Laura Smith, Assistant Director of Programming and Outreach

Carly (2)20160120 20124 1i6ge7g
Laura started working for the Marshall County Memorial Library in 2014 after moving to Tennessee from South Florida. Prior to moving here, Laura worked for the Palm Beach County Library System for 13 1/2 years.
Her path to the library was by no means direct. Laura has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.  She has worked as an engineer, a zookeeper, a veterinary technician, and veterinary receptionist before her love of reading led her back to the library.
Her goal is to spread her love of libraries to others through great customer service and innovative programming for adults. She has started programs in adult coloring and upcyled book crafts, and hosts a weekly crochet club.
If you have any programming ideas, Laura would love to hear them.
